A-1-6 > JM83: Is this CO CPT John Plese with Santa in 1968? Note his blue neckerchief and 'Screaming Eagle' shoulder patch. John was a platoon leader first platoon, and later executive officer of B Company, 2nd BN, 327th Inf, 101st Airborne on his first tour in 66/67. Here is a link in his honor from that unit: http://screamingeagles-327thvietnam.com/second/plese.htm
A-1-6 > JWB-29 L-R LT George White, Major John Beasley, and CPT John Plese - a well liked commander of Company A, 1st BN, 6th Infantry in 1969. Joseph R. "Roger" O'Bryan, A/1/6 Company Clerk from 11/68 – 11/69, remembered CPT Plese well. He writes: CPT Plese was an excellent Commanding Officer, experienced, knowledgeable, man of impeccable integrity with corresponding leadership skills, firm but fair, well respected who certainly cared about the welfare of his men. I remember him as having incredible map reading skills and could pinpoint where each squad was positioned during movement. I can still hear him on his PRC-25 radio directing his platoon's on night patrol's giving explicit instructions, almost on a step by step basis with his calm and almost whispering voice.
