A-1-6 > EK-7 Lower left is Emil Ketelhut (MI), Burl Hill (TX) to his upper left, Monty Marsh (IN) with beer, and top right is John Martenis (NJ), all of 2nd Platoon. The two in the far upper right standing look like Ron Melyan (NJ) and Mike Pumillo. They're back in basecamp for a short time repast with Pabst Blue Ribbon and Coke.
A-1-6 > Page 2 of 5 of the 198th Light Infantry Brtigade Memorial Book. The Memorial was held in South Vietnam, Saturday, September 21, 1968, at 1530 hours.
A-1-6 > Page 2: Lt. William 'Bill' Wendover, Platoon Leader for 1st Platoon, gave Alan Allen a copy of these orders awarding the Combat Infantry Badge (CIB) to a group of Company A grunts. Wendover evidently used the two pages to tally up what had happened to the original members of his 1st Platoon. At the top he wrote, '35 arrived in-country, 17 wounded, 2 killed (Pumillo and Stading). The orders are dated 21 January 1968. Irv Carter, a replacement, also is on the list, so a few others also may have not been an 'original' Company A member.
