GC-31: Joe Calandra (NY) - he was a transfer in from the 1st Cav after we were in-country. Joe and Gary Caneve were both wounded from the same grenade at Lo Giang(1). Note from Wendover: Joe came to the 1st Plt. through the infususion program early before Lo Giang. To me the hardest thing to do was to infuse one of our original bunch with other units to avoid everyone rotating home on the same date at the end of the year. Our guys had so many different terms of service left upon entering Nam I thought they should just leave our unit intact. The men that got infused into our Plt felt just as bad as the guys we had to let go. Everyone had buddies and it was hard to change.
