L-R is 3rd platoon medic (can’t remember his name) the handler with his best face to the camera and I think Howe Hull. It turned out the dog was smarter than his handler. Later that day, 3rd platoon was coming around and down a grassy hill when the dog and I (Lou Miller) saw the ‘old lady’ sitting on some rocks next to some bushes, about 75 yards in front of us. My rifle was up and the dog froze. The handler kept pulling the dog forward, oblivious to what the dog was telling him. By the time I moved forward to grab him, get his attention and look back up, she was gone and the dog was sitting down. We couldn’t just keep the dog, so the dog and handler were sent back on the next chopper out.
