BW_New_8-1: LTC William Baxley Jr. ( Dillion S. Carolina). on the left and 1st Lt. Don Thomas. LTC Baxley was our first Bn. Commander when the 1/6t Inf. was reactivated as a Light Infantry Brigade at Ft Hood Spring 1967. Sure surprised a lot of Mecanized Infantry troops when they lost their ride. LTC Baxley and his staff molded all of us into who we became " Regulars". Competition amongst us during training starting at fire team level then to squad level on to platoon and company maneuvers then FTX's to finish and always to establish pride in our units. We were very fortunate to have the experienced cadre during training and deployment. At the time of this photo LTC Baxley was at Americal Division G-3.
